Solana bar replay on Bybit, Binance, OKX and Coinbase

A young market with a short history: where SOL candles begin in each of nine market types, what that means for a backtest and how SOL treats the previous day’s high and low.

Short answer

Edgetrail replays Solana on Bybit, Binance, OKX and Coinbase, in candles from 1 minute to 1 week. SOL’s history is short and uneven: the oldest SOL market Edgetrail measured is SOLUSDT on Binance (spot), from 11 August 2020, while the youngest of the nine market types, SOLUSD on Bybit (inverse contracts), only starts on 10 April 2024. That is 6.2 years of 1-minute candles at most, against 9.2 years for BTCUSDT on Binance spot (measured on 4 November 2026).

For each market type the main SOL market (USDT, on Coinbase USD; inverse and COIN-M against USD), measured on 4 November 2026, 16:18 UTC as part of the top-50 measurement. SOL pairs against other quote currencies were not measured one by one. “At most” = minutes since the first candle, without subtracting minutes with no trades. Funding from the snapshot taken on 4 November 2026, 16:18 UTC; “–” = not in the snapshot.

What a short history means for a SOL backtest

  • Few complete years. Even the oldest SOL market covers only 5 full calendar years (2021–2025). Split a SOL sample by year before you trust it – a rule that only worked in one of them is a weak rule.
  • The perpetual starts later than spot. On Binance, SOLUSDT USDⓈ-M begins 34 days after spot; on Bybit the SOLUSDT perpetual starts on 15 October 2021 and on OKX SOL-USDT-SWAP on 22 January 2021. If you trade the perpetual, replay the perpetual – those are the candles your stop would have hit.
  • Coinbase. SOL-USD has 1-minute candles from 17 June 2021, which suits a spot test in US dollars.
  • Cross-check. Run the same rules on Bitcoin and Ethereum, which have years more data. A setup that only works on SOL may simply fit SOL’s short past.

Solana was #4 by 24-hour turnover across all nine market types ($5.1 bn) when this was measured.

SOL and the previous day’s high and low

From 12 August 2020 to 3 November 2026, SOLUSDT on Binance traded above the previous UTC day’s high on 46.3% of days and below the previous day’s low on 44.7%; only 18.1% were inside days, against 20.9% for Bitcoin. After taking the previous day’s high, SOL closed back inside the previous range on 44.2% of those days (Bitcoin: 42.9%). Saturdays stand out: 35.7% of them stayed inside Friday’s range, no other weekday more than 19.7%. Method, tables by year and weekday and the CSV are in the previous day high/low study.

Funding on SOL perpetuals

Replay results leave funding out. With the rates in the snapshot taken on 4 November 2026, 16:18 UTC, a $10,000 SOL long held for one week would have paid about $21 on Bybit (0.01% every 8 hours), paid about $21 on Binance (0.01% every 8 hours) and paid about $21 on OKX (0.01% every 8 hours) – arithmetic on one snapshot, since rates change every interval. The funding fee calculator works it out for your own rate and holding time, and crypto futures fees compared lists trading fees per exchange.

Replaying SOL in Edgetrail

Choose the exchange and market type, search for SOL and pick a start date or a random one; Edgetrail then hides the future and moves forward one candle at a time. Mark trades with entry, stop and target, and each closed trade lands with its R in the backtest journal. The previous day’s high and low, the previous week’s high and low and the Tokyo, London and New York sessions can be drawn on the chart. The market lists per exchange are on the Bybit, Binance, OKX and Coinbase pages, and how far back every other coin goes is in the crypto candle history. Edgetrail costs $24 a month or $199 a year; the first 50 Founders pay $99 once, after that a Lifetime plan costs $249 once. The first 14 days are free without a credit card, and every payment comes with a 14-day money-back guarantee.
