Crypto futures fees compared: Bybit, Binance, OKX, Coinbase and Hyperliquid

Base-tier maker and taker fees from the official fee pages, funding intervals measured per contract – and what that costs on one trade.

Short answer

At the base tier, a perpetual costs 0.02% maker and 0.055% taker on Bybit, 0.02% and 0.05% on Binance (USDⓈ-M, USDT) and OKX, and 0.015% and 0.045% on Hyperliquid; Coinbase shows its Advanced rates only after sign-in (fee pages checked on 22 October 2026). Funding is not one fixed rhythm: Edgetrail measured 68% of Bybit’s, 77% of Binance’s and 70% of OKX’s crypto perpetuals on a 4-hour interval, the rest mostly on 8 hours, and Hyperliquid every hour. A $10,000 position opened and closed as taker costs $9 to $11 in fees.

Fees: base tier according to each exchange’s official fee page, checked on 22 October 2026. Funding intervals: number of trading crypto perpetuals per interval, measured on 4 November 2026, 16:18 UTC (Bybit USDT/USDC and inverse, Binance USDⓈ-M, OKX, Hyperliquid; without stock, commodity and FX contracts).

Notes per exchange

  • Bybit: VIP 0 rates for perpetual and futures contracts and crypto-crypto spot; Bybit notes that rates can vary by region.
  • Binance: Regular user, USDT-margined USDⓈ-M futures; paying in BNB gives 10% off on futures (0.018% / 0.045%) and 25% off on spot (0.075%).
  • OKX: Regular user; OKX shows the fee table of the OKX entity that serves your region – from Switzerland it showed the OKX EU table with tiers in EUR.
  • Coinbase: Coinbase does not publish its Advanced fee table openly: its help page says current rates and tier requirements are shown after you sign in, and always on the order preview.
  • Hyperliquid: Tier 0, the lowest volume tier.

What one trade costs

ExchangeEntry and exit as taker… as makerBTC funding (snapshot)Funding for 24 h longTaker cost at $50 risk
Bybit$11$40.01% / 8 h$30.22 R
Binance$10$40.01% / 8 h$30.2 R
OKX$10$40.01% / 8 h$30.2 R
Hyperliquid$9$30.0004% / 1 h$0.890.18 R

Example (arithmetic, not a forecast): BTC-USDT perpetual (Hyperliquid: BTC-USDC) worth $10,000, base-tier fees on both sides. Funding = rate in the snapshot taken on 4 November 2026, 16:18 UTC × position value × settlements in 24 hours; positive means longs pay. The last column relates the taker cost to a stop that risks $50.

Reading the numbers

  • Taker fees dominate. Market orders on both sides cost 2.5 to 3 times as much as limit orders on both sides. On a trade that risks $50, the taker round trip is about 0.2 R before anything else.
  • Funding interval matters for holding time. A 4-hour contract settles six times a day, an 8-hour contract three times – with the same quoted rate, the 4-hour contract charges twice as much per day. Check the interval per contract, not per exchange: on 4 November 2026 Bybit’s 607 crypto perpetuals split into 412 every 4 hours, 193 every 8 hours, 2 every hour.
  • Where others are cheaper. Hyperliquid has the lowest base perpetual fees of the five; Binance gets close with the BNB discount (0.018% / 0.045%); on spot, OKX’s base maker rate (0.08%) is below Bybit’s and Binance’s 0.1%, and Hyperliquid’s spot fees are lower still. Higher VIP tiers on every exchange cut these rates further.
  • Coinbase. Edgetrail replays only Coinbase spot. Coinbase Advanced also offers perpetuals/futures and options with their own volume tiers, but they are not part of Edgetrail’s replay and the fee table is behind a sign-in.

Where Edgetrail books fees and funding

  • Manual trades: enter fees as a percentage per side or as an amount, or enter the realised P&L exactly as the exchange shows it (after fees and funding) – Edgetrail then recalculates nothing. P&L, fees and R are kept to 8 decimal places.
  • Imports: Bybit brings the closed P&L as Bybit booked it, with opening and closing fees; OKX returns positions after fees and funding; Binance and Hyperliquid do not include funding, and Binance fees paid in BNB are not deducted.
  • Replay: R in a replay backtest on Bybit, Binance, OKX or Coinbase candles is measured from entry, stop and exit prices – fees and funding are not deducted, so subtract the costs from this page before you trust a thin edge.
  • Calculators: the position size calculator includes entry and exit fees in the size, and the funding fee calculator turns a rate into dollars over your holding time.

Edgetrail costs $24 a month or $199 a year; the first 50 Founders pay $99 once, after that a Lifetime plan costs $249 once. The first 14 days are free without a credit card, and every payment comes with a 14-day money-back guarantee.
