Breakout rules and how to track them in Edgetrail
Daily loss, drawdown and upgrade targets per plan – from Breakout’s help centre, checked on 22 October 2026.
Short answer
Breakout’s 1-Step evaluations – Classic, Pro and Turbo – all have a maximum daily loss of 3% of your balance at 00:30 UTC and a static maximum drawdown of 6%, 5% or 3% of the starting balance; the upgrade targets are 10%, 12% and 9%, with no time limit. The separate Spark evaluation ($50,000) has no daily limit and a $1,500 trailing loss limit. Edgetrail’s prop firm mode covers the 1-Step plans with one adjustment for the moving daily limit – the values are below, from Breakout’s help centre checked on 22 October 2026.
Breakout rules per plan
| Rule | 1-Step Classic | 1-Step Pro | 1-Step Turbo | Spark |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Upgrade target ($100,000) | $10,000 (10%) | $12,000 (12%) | $9,000 (9%) | $3,000 on $50,000 |
| Max daily loss | 3% of the 00:30 UTC balance | 3% of the 00:30 UTC balance | 3% of the 00:30 UTC balance | none |
| Max drawdown | 6%, static | 5%, static | 3%, static | $1,500, trailing |
| Min. trading days | none listed | none listed | none listed | none |
| Time limit | none | none | none | none listed |
The 2-Step evaluation is no longer sold; existing ones keep a 4% daily loss, a static 6% drawdown and targets of 5% and 10%. A breach ends the evaluation, closes open positions and has no reset. Sources: Breakout help centre (articles updated 3 September 2026), checked on 22 October 2026.
Why the daily limit moves with your balance
Breakout recalculates the daily limit every day at 00:30 UTC as 3% of the balance at that moment, without open positions. Breakout’s own example: at $105,000 the limit is $3,150 and the floor for the next 24 hours $101,850. Below the start the limit shrinks – at $96,000 it is only $2,880.
Edgetrail’s daily limit is a fixed share of the account size. To stay on the safe side, enter the share that applies at the lowest balance the plan allows (our calculation):
| Plan | Lowest allowed balance | Breakout’s daily limit there | Enter in Edgetrail |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1-Step Classic | $94,000 | $2,820 | 2.82% |
| 1-Step Pro | $95,000 | $2,850 | 2.85% |
| 1-Step Turbo | $97,000 | $2,910 | 2.91% |
| 2-Step (existing) | $94,000 | $3,760 (4%) | 3.76% |
Calculated for a $100,000 account: lowest allowed balance × daily percentage ÷ account size. With 3% instead, Edgetrail can show more room than Breakout when the account is below its start.
Settings in Edgetrail’s prop firm mode
| Field in Edgetrail | 1-Step Classic | 1-Step Pro | 1-Step Turbo | Spark |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Account size | your balance, e.g. 100,000 | your balance | your balance | 50,000 |
| Max daily loss | 2.82% | 2.85% | 2.91% | 0 |
| Max drawdown | 6% | 5% | 3% | 3% (= $1,500) |
| Drawdown type | Static | Static | Static | Trailing |
| Profit target | 10% | 12% | 9% | 6% (= $3,000) |
| Minimum trading days | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 |
| Challenge start | first day | first day | first day | first day |
Spark: Edgetrail matches Breakout until your highest closed balance passes $51,500. Above that, Breakout keeps trailing and Edgetrail does not – work out the floor yourself as highest closed balance at the daily reset minus $1,500.
Step by step
- Open Settings (gear icon) and, under Features, switch on Prop firm challenge. The challenge start is set to today.
- Fill in Name (optional), Account size, Max daily loss, Max drawdown, Drawdown type (Static or Trailing), Profit target and Minimum trading days from the table above.
- Set Challenge start to the first day of the phase, so earlier trades do not count.
- Enter 0 to switch a rule off. An empty field falls back to the default (5% daily, 10% drawdown, 10% target, 4 days).
- The dashboard now shows the profit target, what is left for today, the drawdown buffer and the trading days. After each save, Edgetrail warns once per level and day at 75% and at 100% of the daily limit and of the drawdown buffer.
Other firms and tools
Firms often mean different things by the same words, so read the rules of the firm you actually trade with. Also written up with dated sources: FTMO rules (2-Step, 1-Step and Instant, with the midnight CE(S)T reset) and HyroTrader rules (Zero-, One- and Two-Step, with equity measured at 00:00 UTC). How static, intraday-trailing and end-of-day-trailing floors move is worked through day by day in trailing vs static drawdown; where your floor sits today shows the drawdown calculator, and how likely a losing streak reaches it at your risk per trade shows the risk of ruin calculator. What to look for in a journal for a challenge is in trading journals for prop firms.
What Edgetrail does not check
- Open positions. Edgetrail counts only realised results of closed trades, after fees, including partial exits on the day they happen. The firm counts open profit and loss as well.
- The firm’s day boundary. A day in Edgetrail ends at midnight in your device’s local time.
- One account by name. Every trade in the account currency since the challenge start counts. If you trade a second account in the same currency during the same period, it counts too.
- A daily limit that moves with the balance. Breakout takes 3% of the balance at 00:30 UTC; Edgetrail takes a fixed share of the account size. The entry of 2.82, 2.85 or 2.91 above keeps Edgetrail on the safe side.
- Spark’s trailing limit above the start. Breakout keeps trailing the closed balance for the life of the account; Edgetrail stops at the starting balance.
- Position size limits, trading fees in the evaluation, weekend and news rules. Edgetrail logs fees you record, but it does not check Breakout’s position limits or prohibited practices.
- Sync with the firm. There is no sync with prop firm platforms; trades come in via CSV import, by hand or through the exchange imports.

Frequently asked questions
What is Breakout’s daily loss limit?
3% of your balance at 00:30 UTC on the 1-Step Classic, Pro and Turbo, recalculated every day; 4% on existing 2-Step evaluations. The Spark evaluation has no daily loss limit.
Is Breakout’s drawdown static or trailing?
Static on the 1-Step plans: 6% (Classic), 5% (Pro) or 3% (Turbo) of the starting balance. Spark has a $1,500 trailing limit that follows the closed balance once a day and never stops trailing.
Does Breakout have minimum trading days or a time limit?
Breakout’s help centre states no time limit for the evaluation, and the rule articles checked list no minimum trading days. Spark explicitly has none.
Why enter 2.82% instead of 3% in Edgetrail?
Because Breakout’s 3% is taken from the current balance. At the lowest balance a Classic account may reach, $94,000, 3% is $2,820 – 2.82% of the starting balance. Using that keeps Edgetrail’s warning on the safe side.
