Free trading plan template
Setups, risk, a daily routine and the reviews – on one page you can print, edit or open in a spreadsheet.
Short answer
A trading plan answers four questions in writing before you trade: what you trade (your setups with entry, stop, target and exit rules), how much you risk (per trade and per day), when you trade (a readiness check and a plan for the day) and how you review (daily and weekly). This free template covers all four in ten sections, as a Markdown file to print or edit and as a CSV for Excel or Google Sheets. It follows the sections of Edgetrail’s routine, so the plan carries over into the app field by field.

- Rules I never break – Rule 1, Rule 2, Rule 3.
How to fill it in
- Write each setup as rules someone else could follow: entry, stop, target and when you exit early. If a rule cannot be written, it cannot be tested.
- Set risk per trade and a daily maximum in money, not only in percent. The position size calculator turns them into a size.
- If you trade a challenge, copy the firm’s rules exactly, including the time zone of the daily reset – see prop firm rules.
- Keep the plan fixed for a set period, for example a month, and change it only in the weekly review.
From the template to Edgetrail
Each section has its place in the app: setups become Systems (entry, stop, target, early exit, risk rules and three extra rules, shown as a checklist when you log a trade), risk goes into the settings and the position size calculator, the readiness check and morning analysis into Daily Analysis, the reviews into the end of day review and Goals → Weekly review. The pre-trade checklist and the weekly review questions go deeper into two sections.
